Crossing the Line
Crossing the Line

Most outdoor designs start with nature. Ours begins with the house. That mindset got put to the test when this client asked us to create a modern outdoor living space around a log cabin. Inside, their home had just undergone a sleek renovation, featuring gray tones, clean lines, and contemporary surfaces. But outside? It was all rustic log cabin.
They called a few companies before us. Some didn’t respond. Others showed up but couldn’t grasp how to blend two architectural worlds. That’s when we knew this wasn’t just another job, it was a design challenge worth solving.
We pulled the color palette from the interior of the home and gradually transitioned it back to nature, using textures and materials that honored both styles. Rivercrest wall block became the anchor, offering a natural look with a modern edge. We layered in textures like
Mexican pebbles, concrete, and cedar to build transitions between zones.
A custom pavilion brought structure and shade. A recessed fire pit wall created the perfect place to unwind. And what started as a detour around a septic tank turned into a peaceful
corner water feature that now draws everyone in.
None of it was accidental.
Every line, material, and flow came from a process we trust:
Discovery → Mapping → Design → Budget Planning → Execution.
Because real outdoor living isn’t built in trends or templates, it’s built from a deeper understanding of architecture, lifestyle, and what the space is meant to do. When done right, you don’t have to explain why it feels good.
You just step outside… and know.
