Charities -Vizx Design Studios

VizX Design Studios has teamed up with many organizations over the years to help communities uniquely. We are not only elevating the outdoor living space for hire but also giving back to communities.

A few years ago, we formed a group called Sustainable Heroes with Celebrity Landscaper Ahmed Hasson from HGTV Yard Crasher. Together we organized and developed this group to partner with other green industry professionals in support of charitable organizations in building outdoor living spaces and gardening projects nationwide.

We have assisted in projects around the country, from designing a fun outdoor living area for a two-year-old child with cancer in Miami, FL, to installing a classroom garden for an elementary school in Glassboro, NJ, to a shared outdoor space for a battered women’s shelter in Escondido, CA.

Every project was built by volunteers and specialty contractors from across the country. Most of the money was raised by donations from social media posts. We also received goods and services from large corporations and manufacturers like Southwest Airlines, Hertz Rental Cars, CASE Equipment, Skil Power Tools, Ramada Hotels, Hunter Industries, Corona Tools, and many more.

Projects We've Been A Part Of

#Daniellaswish – Miami Springs, FL

Daniella Collazo, a precious two-year-old girl from Miami Springs, Florida was diagnosed with Stage III Neuroblastoma on May 30, 2014. This is a very aggressive form of Childhood Cancer for which she has completed seven cycles of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries during 2015. She was recently discharged after undergoing ultra-high dose chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant protocol.

Due to her immunocompromised condition, Daniella must avoid public places, including public playgrounds for up to a year so the Mystic Force Foundation reached out to Celebrity Landscaper, Ahmed Hassan for his assistance. He quickly reached out to a friend and Outdoor Landscape Designer, Duane Draughon of VizX Design Studios, and the inaugural Sustainable Heroes project was underway!

#BullockGarden – Glassboro, NJ

Dorothy L. Bullock School’s new garden grew from an idea, a tiny seed, planted in teacher Sonya Harris’ imagination and blossomed with the help of many others including celebrity landscaper, Ahmed Hassan, and his team. The California-based landscaper made famous by the DIY Network’s “Yard Crashers” and HGTV’s “Turf War,” was used to handle questions posed to him on social media. When Harris posed the question of starting a garden at her school to Hassan on Facebook, he thought nothing of it at first.

“Usually when someone reaches out to me, I’ll try to answer the question and move on about my business,” Hassan said. “But the next thing I know, I get booked to do the Philly Home Show.”

Harris and Hassan met up in person at the convention. That’s when Hassan realized how much the garden – at that point little more than the seed of an idea – meant to Harris.

The Garden Build took place over the weekend of May 2-3, 2015. A group from the N.J. Agricultural Society trained teachers on May 6 and provided a free curriculum on how to incorporate garden lessons across the curriculum. Since that time, Bullock students and teachers have taken time to interact in this outdoor classroom space.

#AsterGarden – Escondido, CA

Ahmed Hassan is filled with passion to assist others and is the driving force behind his latest charitable project taking place on November 21st and 22nd. Hassan is fully dedicated to the empowerment of people in general and this project, his third of the year, will provide a serene outdoor space for those trying to better themselves. Having a safe haven while rebuilding their lives from the ground up is an invaluable element in the healing process. Hassan’s team of “Sustainable Heroes” from around the country join him in providing a hand up, not a hand out to those less fortunate than themselves.

As the former host of DIY Network’s “Yard Crashers,” Hassan has become a household name in transforming run-down or dilapidated backyards into luxurious outdoor spaces. He, along with his team, have taken landscaping to an entirely different level where people truly appreciate the sense of creativity, potential and endless possibilities of a blank environmental canvas.

Life hasn’t always been kind to him, in fact, he was homeless at one time himself so he realizes the great importance of giving back to those that are now where he once was. He also recognizes that it takes a team of Sustainable Heroes to assist daily in helping these projects come to fruition. He is blessed with the daily assistance of Outdoor Living Designer, Duane Draughon of VizX Design Studios and Vacation Travel Advisor, Beverly Gallant of TraveLink American Express as well as a wealth of other valuable contributors from around the country who repeatedly step up each and every day to help the effort.t time, Bullock students and teachers have taken time to interact in this outdoor classroom space.
